Our Background
HOW WE GOT HERE
IKAMVALETHU SCHOOL OF ART is an Non-profit company based in Motherwell, Gqeberha. The company focuses on teaching Art literature and performance in impoverished communities, advancing and exposing the youth to art. We have well trained and experienced staff that are passionate about what they do. We are currently volunteering our services at Elundini Primary School in Motherwell, teaching and equipping the children with the knowledge of art theory and practical. We teach and train in dance, drama, visual art and music( marimba, guitar, recorder and vocals). Next year going forward we will be running after school programs taking private lessons and also reaching out to the community of Motherwell in teaching art to children who are school dropouts.
We are also currently working closely with the Mandela Bay Development Agency as they are our funders.

I am Kumkani kaMntengwana . I am a local artist of the Nelson Mandela Bay who boasts over nine years experience in the Eastern Cape Music industry as a performing musician. As a student I pursued a Diploma in music education. At present I am finishing off my degree at the Nelson Mandela University.
I am a very advanced guitar player and I am confident to produce good guitar playing skills.

Phakamile Msizi is my Name. I am an ambitious professional with a strong work ethic. I am motivated, goal orientated and believe in the importance of expanding my skills and scope of work.
I have worked in diverse environments across genres, both as a musician and sound technician and have experience in teaching and tutoring in music.
Drum Kit & percussion Trainer

I am Sibongile Ponase. I am a qualified percussionist and drum kit player with over 10years of experience. I started music in 2009 playing the drumkit at Greenwood Primary School. In 2011 I started with percussion and marimba and joined the school Woodwind Band. I continued with music music into high school at Victoria Park High School. In 2016 I joined I joined the school choir and steelpan band. In 2017 I matriculated and in 2018 I started at NMU Bachelor of Music, playing drums/percussion and voice. I am currently doing my Honors degree this year.

I am Sinelizwi Hole. At birth my parents named me Sinelizwi. Which was intended to mean; We have the Word of God. But could also mean, we have a voice. From a very young age, it was observable that she had love and passion for music. I studied music from primary, high school and varsity and I am a classically trained vocalist that is flexible in other music genres. I am more passionate about Afro Soul Music but I don't limit myself, my flexibility has led me to also do African and jazz music.
